Common Name:
Winterberry Euonymus, Winterberry Spindle Tree

Growth Rate:
Rounded, small shrub or tree with pendulous branches, Medium growth rate

Flower Details:
1-2” long cymes of small, yellowish-green, 4-petaled flowers in May, anthers are purple, not showy.

Fruit Details:
Smooth, 4-lobed capsule, usually pink (can be yellowish), beautiful in fruit

Fall Color:
Red fall color

Bark Details:
corky ridges along stems

Disease / Insect Problems or Resistance:
susceptible to scale, but few other serious pest problems

Native Habitat:
Northern China and Manchuria. Introduced 1883.

Easily transplanted and tolerant of many conditions, full sun to partial shade, pH adaptable, Zone 4-7
