Cultural Details for Enkianthus campanulatus

Common Name:
Redvein Enkianthus

Upright shrub 6-15'

Flower Details:
Creamy yellow to light orange veined with red 0.33-0.50" long in May-June in pendulous umbel-like racemes from previous years growth.

Fruit Details:
Dehiscent, 5-valved capsule, 0.75" long.

Fall Color:
Brilliant yellow to orange and red

Bark Details:
Slender 3 sided often reddish in youth becoming brown, glabrous.

Disease / Insect Problems or Resistance:
None serious.

Native Habitat:
Japan, 1870, Zones 4-7

Other Features:
Excellent for flower and fall color. Nice specimen combines well with rhododendrons lovely around patio.

Culture and Care:
Acid soil requires moisture in full sun or partial shade.
